Sanibel Island Restaurants
We are still making our way through the best Sanibel Island restaurants. What we love is that each one offers something unique and there are no chain restaurants on the island.
Here is a list of some of our favorite restaurants on Sanibel Island and Captiva Island. We will add more as we taste our way through Sanibel.

Sweet Melissa's was one of the first restaurants that we ate at on our first trip to Sanibel Island a number of years ago. We were impressed by the quality of food and even more impressed by the value! They offer half portions for most of their entrees and the serving size is very generous. Our favorite dish is the famous Fish Stew. It rivals the best cioppinos in San Francisco! We have now sampled most of the menu and you can't go wrong. Make sure to leave room for dessert! This is one of the few restaurant's on Sanibel Island that accepts reservations via OpenTable.
6467 Sanibel Captiva Rd
The Mad Hatter Restaurant is a foodie's paradise. Located to wards the end of Sanibel Island, right before crossing over to Captiva Island. This is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant is one of the few located on beach side, so it's the perfect place to take in Sanibel's magical sunsets. The food is exceptional and so is the service. Our favorite dishes are the Seafood Martini, Spiced Watermelon Salad, Scallops and Rack of Lamb. Save room for dessert. We love the Menage a Trois, so we can sample three of the house' best. Call ahead for reservations.

The Island Cow is our family's favorite spot for Breakfast. We love to bike here from Mia's Beach Escape. They also serve a great lunch and dinner and mix some delicious cocktails. We love the little muffins that are served the minute you sit down. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. They also make a great cappuccino.
500 Island Inn Rd
Doc Ford's on Sanibel is a family staple for us. This restaurant is a short bike ride from Mia's Beach Escape, so it tends to be our go-to for takeout when we don't feel like cooking or going out. The menu is extensive and offers a number of 'healthier' options. Our family also enjoys their outdoor dining area.
634 N Yachtsman Dr
Gramma Dot's Restaurant is one of the few waterfront restaurants on Sanibel Island. When we are feeling ambitious, we bike here, but the drive is much easier. The restaurant is located near the Sanibel Lighthouse at the marina. The food is delicious and our favorites are the Crab Meatballs, Grouper and Coconut Shrimp.
